Real-ly momentous

Time for another round of Real life photos! This week's assignment is photos of momentous occasions.

Unfortunately, I don't really know how to use our scanner because my husband is a computer geek and we have a full-on network going on in our home...this means that I am pretty limited in what I have to offer at the moment. There are really only 3 big events that I have digitalized. Also, only 2 of the following photos are actually displayed in our home. Not sure if that was supposed to be a prerequisite or not, but if it was I'm just going to go ahead and ignore it.

Now, on with the show...

Momentous occasion #1-
My Engagement

What you need to know-
I am a sinner.
My husband and I lived together for 8 1/2 years before we actually made it legal. We were only engaged for 6 I waited a VERY long time for that special piece of jewelry.
We got engaged on Christmas Day 2002. I kept it to myself for several hours and wanted to tell my family in a special way. I decided to take a picture of my ring and email it to my Mom. My plan sort of went awry and the conversation I had with my Mother ended up making her think that I had somehow injured my hand or something. It was actually pretty funny, but I digress. My point is that this is the picture that I sent to my family to tell them that we were finally going to get married.

I love this picture because you can actually see how pretty my ring is. This second one is simply to show the unique qualities of my ring. The diamond isn't very big, but it belonged to my Grandmother and is very special to me for that reason. Kevin picked out the setting all by himself, and I think he did a fabulous job! I've never seen another ring like it. I'm not sure if you can really tell from the picture because it is sort of blurry, but the ring has the center stone and then on either side there are 5 small diamonds that wrap around the ring. I love it!

Momentous occasion #2-
Our Wedding

Here are a few of my favorite photos from our wedding. I think what I loved most about my wedding was that it was very low key. I was the anti-bridezilla. We got married in the park that I played in as a child. My Mom was our wedding planner, and she did a phenomenal job. I didn't want to spend big $$ for a photographer, and I really wanted to have more candid looking photos, so my cousin (who is a fabulous photographer) took our photos for us using my digital camera.

This is the ceremony. I don't look terribly happy in this shot, but I think it was just that I was trying not to cry. Once I saw the bouquets and the girls in their dresses I was pretty much a basket case.

As you can see, once the ceremony was over I was all smiles! Having all of those eyes on me made me way too self conscious. I've always wondered what Kevin was thinking when my cousin snapped this one. I like that it looks like we just shared a little moment.
This is my favorite photo from our wedding and one that I actually have displayed in our house. I love how he got our reflections in the pond.
This one is sort of silly because you can't even see our faces, but I love it because it's the only one that really captured how cool my hair looked! I love the pop the flowers give it. I think this qualifies for this assignment though because this is our first dance as husband and wife.
My all time favorite photo of me looking like a homicidal maniac!!! One of our good friends took this with one of the disposable cameras we had on the tables. We had just finished cutting the cake and I was goofing off making faces at her. I just love that it looks like I'm about to murder my new hubby!

Momentous occasion #3-
The Birth of my beautiful girl!
Ciara was delivered by C-section after 20 long hours of labor (with no progress). They showed her to me very briefly while they were stitching me back up, but it was a few hours before I really got to see her. This picture is of the first time I got to hold her.

This is Ciara right before we brought her into our house for the very first time. I absolutely adore the wrinkled little brow!

And there you have it. A little wordy perhaps, but it wouldn't be me if it weren't.

You look so amazing and elegant on your wedding day. I love purple. I actually wanted red & purple (we had red & silver) for our wedding colors, but my mom convinced it would look like a bordello.

Your hair did look gorgeous!

And you look really good after the birth of that baby! How do you do it?
